Who Are the Worlds Most Attractive Employers in 2015 Universum have released further findings from the Universum Talent Survey, this time revealing the top ten most attractive employers in the world of 2015. The ranking has been put together based on the responses from more than 120,000 students  from some of the worlds top  universities. Why are the top employers so attractive to job seekers? Findings from the survey demonstrated that Millennials are seeking purpose and innovation  and the world’s most attractive employers are delivering just that. They want there to be given the opportunity for professional growth when starting in a new job and the chance to truly have an impact on the success of the company. For this reason, training and mentoring are elements of a role that appeal to  a lot of millennial candidates. They also aim to truly understand a companys purpose before working for them, to ensure that their own values and goals align with those of the business and they feel that they can contribute to the organisations performance. The most attractive employers inspire job seekers and storytelling is something that entices a lot of job seekers, as they are able to learn about the employees within the company, get an insight into the company culture  and become familiar with the organisations values. Petter Nylander,  CEO of Universum said: “The 2015 WMAE confirms that Millennials will go to work for companies whose stories they can  tell, whose values they can espouse and whose businesses they can learn,” Students are seeking platforms for their own performance and growth. And  they told us which companies are accomplishing this.” So who are the most attractive employers? Google tops the ranking for another year among business and engineering/IT students  and there was little movement in the top five among business students from the 2014 rankings.  Professional service firms PwC and EY ranked highly, as a result of the training opportunities they offer which are regarded as an important factor when applying for jobs. Top 5 for Business students: Google PwC EY Goldman Sachs KPMG Top 5 for Engineering/IT students: Google, Microsoft Apple BMW Group General Electric Employers within the energy sector lost rankings in this year top employers list, while the fast-moving consumer goods industry crept up from their lower positions in previous years. Engineering/IT students reportedly want to work somewhere where they can be creative and innovative and  desire a workplace with entrepreneurial energy.  Job security is also something that they regard important when starting in a new role. Help Is Out There So you say there arent any jobs available right now- companies have a hiring freeze or they just laid off people. It just isnt true. There are jobs. We just have to develop a heightened sense of alertness and get creative. Last year I bought a Prius. I did a lot of research and test drove one. I had to wait several months before it was delivered and during those several months of waiting, I saw more people driving Prius than I had seen before. I also saw it in colors I hadnt known existed. Were there more of them on the road? Maybe, but I also had a heightened sense of alertness. Could this also be said for possible employment opportunities? As a career sherpa, I hear about hundreds of jobs a week, so I know they are out there. The trick for the seeker is to use all available resources to uncover possibilities. How, you might ask? Here are some ways in which I hear about jobs: Use a broad reaching job search engine like www.indeed.com Join at attend in person networking events. In Rochester, we have many just for job seekers such as The August Group; New Horizons, ABCPNG, G-TEN, and Power networking at ColeParks.
