Employers value the experience youve gained in the military, a trial by fire that taught you how to excel under pressure and in conditions far more stringent than most commercial environments. Yet for employers to realize that value, you often have to wholly change how you think about your experience and the language you use to describe it. Thats where our logistics officer resume sample is valuable in showing you how to transition your military experience into civilian terms and speak confidently of your value in language commercial employers understand. If youve ever written a military-style resume, you know its an extremely dense document requiring paragraphs and paragraphs of detail from the smallest inventory object to the names of your direct superiors and the date of hire. When youre used to 15-page documents, the idea of stripping your experience down to a single page can seem daunting and raise worries that the resume will inadequately represent your skills. Yet if you review the logistics officer resume sample, you can see its hardly inadequate. In a pages worth of space, it covers all the pivotal skills and accomplishments needed to gain an employers attention. The important thing to remember is that much of what was relevant information in the military isnt relevant to civilian employers. Theyll never need details on names in the chai n of command, and much of the information on military equipment, programs, acronyms, and forms wont have any relevance to them. What they care about is the size and value of the inventory you managed, your impact on logistics policies, and how your influence improved efficiency and costs. You only need a page to convey that effectively and show how your experience applies to the civilian world. Why You Need a Strong Logistics Officer ResumeIf youre coming from a primarily military background, your advantages can actually come across as a disadvantage if you dont know how to present them properly. Though many employers actively desire former military candidates for their specialized and intensive experience, others have doubts about the ability of military personnel to integrate into a civilian environment and function in a civilian organization. With a strong resume written in commercial terms like our logistics officer resume sample, you can easily demonstrate flexibility and a stro ng understanding of how your skillset fits into a business environment. Turn your advantages into selling points, rather than points of doubt.Costly Logistics Officer Resume Mistakes To AvoidAs mentioned previously, you cant write your civilian resume the same way youd write a military resume. Many of the programs, equipment names, job titles, processes, and standards wont make sense to civilian employers when they dont have the context to make this information relevant. Its easy to lose people in excess information, and you dont want to distract them from your accomplishments while theyre trying to puzzle out the meaning of a particular classification or what it means in relation to your ability to improve their logistics processes. Write in simple laymans terms, as in our logistics officer resume sample.Another common mistake when transitioning from military to civilian roles is listing general job duties as accomplishments. Simply completing your job as assigned isnt an accomplis hment. You need to include achievements that had demonstrable positive impact with documented results. Without valid accomplishments, employers are more likely to pass you over for candidates who can show actual changes as a result of their actions.ConclusionEvery great journey begins with a single small step, and your journey from military to civilian employment begins with the simple step of revising your resume. A new resume is sure to change how you think about your experience and how you contextualize and quantify your background in a way that provides value to civilian employers. Use the example provided in our logistics officer resume sample to optimize your job search results.

Why Every Model Needs Tearsheets in Their Portfolios

Why Every Model Needs Tearsheets in Their PortfoliosWhy Every Model Needs Tearsheets in Their PortfoliosModeling is all about marketing yourself, and one of the top tools youll need is a strong portfolio full of your best and most current work. Your book, as it is often called, should contain a range of professional shots that not only show off your top assets, but also your attitude, personality, and versatility. And the best way to do that? By including as many tearsheets as possible. What are Tearsheets and Why are They Important? Traditionally, a tearsheet is an actual page torn from a magazine or other print publication that goes into a modeling portfolio. Today, thanks to a little something called the Internet, a tearsheet can also be a digital ad or editorial. Basically, tearsheets prove youve actually been published. They put your photos into context and show agencies and clients who youve worked for and what kind of work youve done. If your portfolio is full of tearshee ts featuring known brands and publications, youll have a better chance of landing more lucrative jobs and signing with thebest modeling agencies. Tearsheets that prove you have worked as a professional model can also be required by some foreign countries before they will issue a visa allowing you to work in their country. Why Do I Need One for Digital Work? Cant I Just Include a Link to the Photo? Definitely not Agents and clients are incredibly busy people who dont have time to go verbunden and look up every photo youve ever done. They want to see all of your work in one handy place. Plus, websites are always updating their content, meaning your image wont be online forever. So, instead of linking to a photo that may or may not exist in a few years, months, or even days, its better to print off the actual image while you can. Whats the Best Way to Grab an Online Image? You dont have to be a tech wizard to print off a digital image. Its really quite easy Just copy the photo, paste it into the photo editor of your choice (Photoshop is best, but whatever comes with your computer will work just fine), make it as large as possible without sacrificing quality, and print it off.? Make aya to use glossy photo paper, not regular printer paper, and choose the highest possible printing quality. If you dont have a printer or are overwhelmed by the process, you can always download the image, upload it to a photo printing site, and let them do it for you. How Do You Get Original Copies of Your Work for a Tearsheet? It would be great if your modeling agency could send you a copy of your work after every job, but thats not always the way it works. As a model, its up to you to keep track of the work youve done and collect copies for your tearsheets. And when your photos arent online, or if they arent high quality, it can take a bit of effort to get them. There are two ways to go about this Tear the actual page out of a magazine, catalog, or other print material. Bu t wait Before you find your page and rip it out, remember that the page needs to have clean, professional lines, without any tears or jagged edges. What you want to do instead is rip the page at the binding. To do that, rip out an entire chunk of pages (with your page in it) all the way to the binding. Then, tear off one page at a time until you reach your photo (you can take off 3 or 4 at a time if your photo is far away). Rip off your page slowly and carefully, starting at the top or bottom. You can use a razor or box cutter type tool to cut it out. If you did it right, the page should be perfectly intact. If your ad is in a foreign magazine or is otherwise inaccessible (a poster, for example), a good option is to go right to the source- the photographer, art director, or ad agency- and get a digital version of the original file. It will look better than a scanned image anyway, and it never hurts to show this kind of professional initiative. After your shoot, ask who you should co ntact about the photo and how long you should wait before getting in touch, then be sure to follow up
